About Summer of the 69
Summer of the 69 is a festival dedicated to works featuring the sexual position, open to all fandoms and to original creations. It runs from June 9th through September 6th, to encompass "6/9" in both common date formats: Month first and day first.
Starting on the first day of the festival and running through the end, this community will host kink meme style prompt-in-the-comment posts, open to everyone; new posts will be created as needed, depending on if or how quickly existing posts fill up. Any existing posts will be closed to new prompts on September 7th, though everyone is invited to continue to fill existing prompts. Rules for participating in these will be found in the posts themselves. Check out 2025's Comment Prompts post for more info.
Additionally, for each week of the fest, a post sharing a particular theme of sixty-nine will be made. In the comments of that post, fans are encouraged to share existing works that fit the theme. For the two weeks following, members are also encouraged to create new works inspired by those themes and post them directly to the community. Anyone who doesn't have or want a Dreamwidth account is welcome to participate as well, and share their works in full or link to them in the comments of the theme posts. At the end of the first week, a new theme post will go up; after the second week, the theme will be closed to new works. A post collecting links to works created for the closed theme will also go up. You can view the themes for 2025 in this post.
On September 7th, all weekly prompts will enter an amnesty period, with members allowed and encouraged to share works that they didn't have time to finish for the original deadlines. The amnesty period will run until March 31st of the following year.
On April 2nd, a post inviting suggestions for themes for the upcoming fest will go up; it will close on April 30th. On May 1st, a poll to choose that year's themes will be posted, and it will close on May 15th. Themes for that year will be finalized by May 18th, to allow potential participants time to plan.
Participants are welcome to cross-post their works on any site they choose; when sharing on AO3, participants are invited to post their work to the relevant collection:

Rules
All fanworks must contain some form of sexual 69; however, there is no restriction on type of fanwork. Fanfic, fanart, podfic, original work, anything else you can think of, if it's creative and follows the next two rules on the list, you're good to go.
All participants must be 18 years old or older. For legal reasons, if you are seventeen-years-old or younger, you are not allowed to participate in this community.
No machine generated art. Also known as "AI generated", any work "created" by an image generating machine is not allowed. Machine generated text created by an autocomplete-writ-large, such as ChatGPT, is also heavily discouraged.
No celebrating bigotry. Accidents can sometimes happen; none of us is constantly aware of all of our biases. However, by and large, this community should not be a safe place for Nazis, Radfems, racists, religious supremacists, or other bigots of any stripe.
Don't like? Don't read. Due to the extremely lax restrictions on content, members and other participants may come across some that is not to their taste, or may be outright triggering. As long as the content doens't break any community rules, if you don't like it? Leave it be. Remember: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That's Okay. If you find something that does break the rules, report it to a moderator, who will take over from there.
Use the following format when making new posts:
Title and Author in the subject line
Fandom (or original work)
Ship(s)
Media type (writing, audio, visual art, etc)
Wordcount/File size/Run time (as applicable)
Availability elsewhere (if applicable)
Related prompt or theme
Summary/Excerpt/Teaser (if applicable)

Feel free to remove any data that doesn't apply to your entry.
Use a cut tag on all entries. If you are including a preview thumbnail of any visual art, make sure that preview is Safe For Work.
When posting images, include an image description.* It is the goal of this community for everyone to be able to participate, and that includes anyone who relies on screenreaders to navigate the internet. Participants are allowed to use any native image describing options the site has (such as those available in Dreamwidth's image hosting), or to describe the image in [brackets] underneath.
To write a good image description, imagine you're telling a friend about it over the phone, and include all the information they need to understand what's going on. For example: "Han and Leia locked in a sixty-nine while floating in space."
* If you have trouble writing image descriptions, make a note of it in the post or comment where you're sharing your art, and a mod or community member will help you out! Community members, if someone asks for help with an image description, please feel free to offer your assistance. Writing image descriptions takes effort and can be tricky for people not used to it, so please allow artists some grace.
Tag your entries. You must use at least one of the standard AO3 major warnings tags: No Warnings Apply, Major Character Death, Incest, Underage, and/or Choose Not to Warn. Additionally, tag with any fandoms that apply, or original work, as well as any fest themes the work may have been created for. Further content tags can be added to the tag list as needed.
Consequences of infractions: Your first infraction will result in a warning. As long as you make a good faith attempt to apologize when appropriate and to comply with the rules going forward, your first infraction will roll off your record after two weeks. After your second infraction in two weeks, you will be suspended for one week. A third infraction in two weeks will result in a one month suspension. Any person who is twice suspended for one month will be banned from the community for at least a year.
Harassment Consequences: An exception is made for harassment; anyone found to be harassing a community member or other poster for community content that does not break the above rules or for content that is hosted on their own journal will be banned instantly for a minimum of one year. Permanent banning may occur depending on the severity of the infraction.
