Alternate Sexy Parts 69: From trans and genderswap to Omegaverse and Xenokink, and beyond!

There's a lot of room for interpretation with this prompt! Trans or intersex interpretations of characters are definitely in, as are genderswaps, be they AU or via canonical shenanigans of some variety. Body swap might also be on the table, with the characters given the option to show their counterparts firsthand exactly what they like when it comes to oral sex. Prosthetics are another option, with characters switching out their usual toys (dildos, strap-ons, sheathes, etc) for something a little more exciting.

We move on from there to doing more unconventional things with genital structure. Omegaverse is an easy option, with exploring what's going on down there in explicit detail; will there be any knotting in this 69? Or maybe you'll take it in a xenokink direction and introduce us to some more alien or monstrous junk; we don't know for certain what a were-eagle has in their pants, after all. And really, how exactly do you 69 with a tentacle monster? In a more mechanical direction, what sort of upgrades might a robot or cyborg have gotten to their literal sexy parts? Can they swap them out, or add actual bells and whistles? And to what extent is their mechanic prepared to help them out or get involved?

The world is your oyster with this theme—possibly even literally!

Theme for June 9th through 23rd: First Time 69

There's a lot of fun to be had with this theme, and so many different firsts to explore. To start with, there's a character's first time having sex ever, their first time with a given person or given people, their first time with oral sex specifically (giving or receiving), and their first sixty-nine; but how about other firsts?

Is it their first time in a new house or bed, their first time not in a bed? Is it their first time incorporating a kink or two in the bedroom? Is it their first sixty-nine after a major milestone, such as getting a new job, being bitten by a werewolf or vampire, or transitioning to a new gender?

Or maybe it's one of your firsts. Could it be your first time posting anything to this community, or even just the first time this year? Is it the first time you've created something featuring a sixty-nine? If you're quick, you might also be able to get in some community firsts! Will you create this community's first podfic, comic, fanmix? Will you be the first to post 69 meta?

Everyone who starts something really does have to start somewhere, and this fest is no exception: Let's start this year off with a bang!

2026 Theme Calendar

The theme calendar for 2026 is now live!

This year's themes were based on the results of the 2026 Theme Poll. For the most part, the least popular of the winning themes will start on June 16th, and we'll end with the most popular on August 18th; this should allow participants the maximum amount of time to create something for the top themes.

This year we'll also be officially doing double themes! Not for the first few weeks, however; due in part to a number of ties, including a five way tie for the least popular of the potentially winning options, as well as wanting to ease into things a bit, our first double theme of this year will be on June 30th. In the event of similarly significant ties in the future, I plan to build in extra time for a run-off.

Themes for 2026's Summer of the 69 will be active for approximately two weeks, starting from posting time. At the end of a week's time, a new theme will be posted; a week after the new theme is posted, a post rounding up links to works created for the previous theme will be made, at which point the previous theme will officially close until September 7th. This will give all but the final two themes approximately two weeks for participants to post fills.

Special note: As a reminder, the final theme, Failed 69, includes any themes that didn't make the cut during voting. So if one of your absolute favorites didn't get enough votes to be selected for one of 2026's official themes, you'll still have the opportunity to create something for it this year! In addition, this will mean that all themes suggested for this year will be options for Amnesty.

While the first and last two themes are set, there are ten other theme slots to fill! Nineteen of the themes listed in this poll were the themes from past years, and the rest of the themes were suggestions made previous years that didn't make the cut, for a total of fifty-two possible themes. That's enough for an entire deck of cards, so I've increased the total number of themes you can vote for: Pick at least one and as many as fifteen of your favorites in the poll below, and the ten most popular will be this year's themes!

Summer of the 69 Theme Compilation: 2023 through 2025, and suggestions for 2026

Though there weren't as many new theme suggestions this year, there are still quite a lot of possibilities to choose from! Thus, as with last year, I've made a separate post to compile all the voting options in a single post, for easier viewing.

The comments in this post contain all of the mini-essays for the themes used and suggested for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 fests. After those comments are the themes that are currently suggestions only, from both last year and this year, with titles, taglines, and a brief overview of any hypothetical mini-essays for them. This information should help you make better informed choices about the possible themes for this year.

2026 Theme Suggestions Now Open!

Theme suggestions and discussion for 2024 is now open! Comment on this post to suggest new themes for this year, discuss themes from last year, or make a case for the inclusion of any themes in this year's fest, new and recycled alike!

If you want to review previous years' themes, you can check out the comments in this post.

There are a few things about the 2025 schedule that are set in stone:

As with last year, theme posts will be going up weekly starting on June 9th, with Closing Ceremonies on September 6th

This year's opening theme will be along the lines of "First Time 69"

The final two themes will be "Back End 69" (penultimate theme) and "Failed 69" (final theme, since the end of the fest is less than a week after the final theme goes up)

I plan to continue my trend from last year of only linking works in any Roundup posts, and not prior or current themes.

Other than that, pretty much anything goes! Are there any themes you really enjoyed from last year that you'd like to see again? Do you have any suggestions for themes you'd like included this year? Is there something you think might need more focus? Do you want any particular theme to line up with any specific date, so you can make something for both Sot69 and another event? If we get enough ideas, would anyone like to have two themes go live every week? Please share your thoughts in the comments!

This post will close to new comments on April 30th; on May 1st, a poll will go up for members to vote on this year's themes. The poll will close on May 15th, and themes will be finalized by May 18th to allow everyone time to plan for the 2025 fest.

2025 Amnesty Closed!

That's it, everyone! The amnesty period for the 2025 Summer of the 69 fest is officially closed! I'll be formally turning comments off of 2025's comment prompt post in just a few minutes.

We didn't have any amnesty fills this year, but not to worry! If you saw a prompt that you really want to fill, or you want to create something for a theme for last year that doesn't get renewed for the 2026 fest, all 2025 themes and prompts will reopen for 2026's amnesty period.

Speaking of 2026, theme suggestions will open on April 2nd! Are there themes that you particularly liked or want to revisit from 2025? Do you have any ideas for potential new themes the community could cover? Are there any prior themes you didn't particularly care for or get inspired by? Give it some thought! The comment period to suggest themes begins the day after tomorrow.

Amnesty for the 2025 fest is now officially open!

Was there a theme for this year (or for 2023 or 2024) that you liked but didn't find out about on time? Did you come up with a really good idea for a theme only after it ended? Just find out about a really great fic or piece of fanart that you'd love to rec for a specific theme? Aiming to be a fest completionist and come up with something for every theme but just didn't have the energy this time around? Now's your chance!

Anyone who finishes a work during the amnesty period is welcome to post it to the community; be sure to tag it with "amnesty", as well as either the relevant theme, or "comment prompts". They are also welcome in the parent AO3 collection.

Theme for September 1st through September 6th: Failed 69

Failed 69: You're both there, you're both trying, but one of you is doing way too good of a job, and the other can't cope, damnit

And at last we reach the final week of Summer of the 69. Except wait, it's not even a full week? How are we supposed to work with that?

By accounting for failure! Sometimes, things just don't work the way you want them to. This can happen just as easily in the bedroom as it can on the calendar. Maybe, as the flavor text above suggests, one of the participants is just too good at what they're doing, and anyone else gets overwhelmed and has to tap out before they finish. Maybe something non-sex-related comes up and there's coitus interruptus. Maybe something sillier and more slapstick happens, and someone bumps their funnybone or falls out of bed and the mood is broken. Maybe the position is just a brief interlude on the way to a different sex act, and it was never going to be a complete sixty-nine anyway. Maybe one or more of the participants has a disability that means a sixty-nine isn't feasible. Or maybe someone just really isn't feeling it right now, even if they're trying, and isn't it great that it's okay to stop in the middle of a sex act for any reason what-so-ever?

Or maybe you really, really meant to finish up something for one of our previous themes, but somehow failed to make it work. Did you run out of time? Inspiration? Were the characters just not cooperating? Did real life get in the way? Was there something just off that you couldn't put your finger on, but couldn't work with, either? Here's your chance to share it anyway!

There's all sorts of reasons why a specific sex act or creative work might not work out at any given time, and whether the people involved continue with a different sex act or not, or whether you go on to finish it later or not, it all counts for this theme.

Bonus: Any themes that did not make the final cut from the 2025 Theme Poll also qualify under the Failed 69 theme!

Back End 69: Who says the front parts should get all the attention? It's time to get some assplay in 69-land!

That's right, now that we've reached the back end of this little fest, it's past time to get cheeky! Aiming for anal? How about utilizing plugs or dildos during the act? Want to keep it toy-free? There's always fingering. Feeling especially flexible? How about adding a rimjob to the mix? Or why not jazz it up with some scat?

Okay, maybe you're not so much into buttholes, whether it's what goes into them or what comes out. That's no reason you can't give the cheeks an extra squeeze or massage! Maybe even indulge in some pre-sixty-nine spanking (or even try it during, if you're feeling adventurous). And if you've got any catfolk or tabaxis available, I've heard a thing or two about stimulation at the base of the tail...

You're in for a treat this round, everyone, because we're closing the final full weeks of this fest with double the themes! There's still the actual final themes of this fest coming up, but these are the last two that will last a whole two weeks, so enjoy!

Fighting or Fucking 69: It all started when Person A pinned Person B...

Here's a little something for all of you fans of enemies-to-lovers and rivals-to-lovers! Do we have a sparring match gone wrong? Wrestling get a little more spicy than anticipated? Finally manage to pin your greatest foe and accidentally end up sitting on their face (and as long as you're both there anyway...)?

Have we got magic or advanced and interesting technology at hand? How would you like to incapacitate your foe by blasting their clothing, and only their clothing, to a distant and unknown dimension? And once that's gone, who knows what will happen next! Which person will be more distracted, and why?

Accidental arousal is not new when blood is pumping and adrenaline is up, for whatever reason! Even if you're not going physically toe-to-toe, a battle of wits can still end with the participants taking the time to examine the contents of each others' clothing. Or is this an occasion when Truth or Dare or strip poker can come out to play?

A friend of mine from high school asserted that any game can be improved by making it either full contact or a strip version, but never both. This theme is the perfect excuse to prove her wrong!

Monsterfucker 69: Humans aren't the only ones who like going down

Tired of the usual arrangement of genitals? Want to go just a little (or a lot) hog wild, possibly even with an actual wild hog creature? Here's your chance! Let's explore what unexpected (and delightful) surprises one or more characters might have in their pants. There's the usual fun stuff, like knots and baculums, tentacles and oviposters; but there's no reason to stop there! What about multiples of the above, all at the same time? What about reproductive organs more inspired by bugs? Do suction cups play any part of the tentacles involved, and if so, how?

Then, of course, there's what falls under the definition of "monster". Vampires and werewolves are pretty well known and explored (and more is, naturally, always welcome), but the door's wide open for things like merfolk, zombies, minotaurs, and all sorts of aliens. Your character can summon a demon to get them off, or try the classic TTRPG trick of seducing the dragon. You can take a page out of Dr. Chuck Tingle's many books and invite a unicorn or bigfoot to the party—or even both! You can even go for something more original, and design everything from top to bottom (and all the fun places in between).

And for those who don't want to stray too far from the familiar, there's options for you, too! Have one of your characters dress up as a monster of some variety, and that'll still count. Try a little sexy cosplay, or get down discreetly at a costume party. Or maybe you're into the most villainous, black-hearted characters imaginable, misunderstood or understood perfectly; if someone might call them a monster, they're certainly an option, regardless of what shape they take!

However it may look to you, now's the perfect time to put the 'freak' in 'getting freaky'!

Theme for August 11th through 25th: Tropefest 69

Tropefest 69: There was only one bed, they were roommates, and sex pollen? Yes please!

A lot of this fest's themes are explicitly built around tropes, but not even three months is enough to explore all of them in depth! This theme is an excuse to dip your creative process in any that haven't been featured in this year's fest—or maybe some you've missed the deadline for!

Got an AU you've been itching to try? Let's find out why your characters might be going for a sixty-nine if they're pirates or merfolk! Is a sixty-nine safer in a world where zombies roam, or simply more practical (reproductively speaking) in a post-apocalyptic wasteland? In a superhero setting, might this position more easily allow sex without the danger of revealing one's secret identity? Might they be nobility, and oral sex is a way to get around social risks? Or do you want to go more mundane, and situate a sixty-nine in an office, a high school, a coffee shop?

For more situational scenarios, when there's only one bed, one of the ways that's supposed to make it easier to keep your hands to yourself is sleeping head-to-feet with your companion(s); we all know how that would work out in this fest! Or compare and contrast (or even combine!) with similar happenstance, the Blanket Scenario, where characters have to cuddle, frequently naked, to conserve warmth. And might there be aphrodisiacs that make one especially hungry for oral sex? What about aliens who want to make the characters do it in this very specific position? Could a character going into heat or rut ever be mitigated by oral sex?

There were no entries submitted for 69 Accommodations, but there's always the possibility of fulfillment during amnesty, as well as our final theme, Failed 69!

Kinky 69: When the position is too vanilla on its own, it's time to mix in other kinks

Now, just what kinks can we mix in with this? You can tie a participant in place, or blindfold them. You can add a spice of pain to the mix, or literal spice if you want to mix in food. Even if you don't want to keep someone in one place, shibari can be beautiful; is there a way to tie someone up that will make this position more ...interesting?
